CLS Citizens and Business Owners,
As we continue to navigate our response to COVID-19, government officials continue to prioritize your health and safety. Safeguarding our residents and businesses requires us all to assume responsibility for our welfare in or out of the city.
The recent spike in COVID-19 cases not only in Clear Lake Shores, but Galveston County as well as other adjacent counties necessitates heightened vigilance and personal responsibility by all. This means continuing to follow guidelines for face coverings, social distancing, and hygiene practices. With Governor Abbot limiting gatherings to no more than 100 persons, I have also determined that it would be in the best interest for the Jamin on Jarboe concert set for this Saturday July 4, 2020 to be postponed as well. We will continue to evaluate future functions and with all of the fireworks displays being cancelled we felt it is best to cancel our event as well. With no fireworks going on this could have become an out of control event with little or no way to control the numbers.
By following simple protocols established, we not only protect others and ourselves, we also show our concern for the welfare of, and respect for, our other communities. Your individual efforts to guard your health, both at work and at home, directly impact our ability to knock this pandemic flat.
Believe me when I say these have been some of the toughest decisions to make, but my goal is we can continue to make these small sacrifices in order to get past these difficult times and start enjoying life and events again as soon as possible.
Let’s all do our part to keep ourselves and others safe and healthy.
Thanks,
Mayor Kurt
