Mayor Otten issues Mandatory Evacuation in Response to Hurricane Laura

Clear Lake Shores, TX - Tuesday, August 25, 2020 - Mayor Otten has issued a mandatory evacuation in anticipation of storm surge, heavy rains, and strong winds that would impact our low-lying areas. Mandatory evacuations will be ongoing throughout the day and early tomorrow and should be scheduled to complete prior to 12 noon, August 26, 2020. (Click here to read Mandatory Evacuation Order)

Hurricane Laura is predicted to make landfall late Wednesday to early Thursday as a Category 3 Major Hurricane. The landfall is anticipated near the Texas/Louisiana border, according to the latest National Weather Service models and storm surge is major concern.  

Following the Texas Governor’s state of disaster declaration, Galveston County Judge Mark Henry signed a local state of disaster declaration in response to possible impacts from Hurricane Laura.
