Clear Lake Shores, TX - Tuesday, February 23, 2021 - The City of Clear Lake Shores is temporarily waiving plumbing permit and inspection fees to residents and business owners who require plumbing repairs or other work associated with last week’s winter storm event.
The temporary permit and inspection fee waiver will be in effect for the next two months, ending April 23, 2021.
“To recover from this unprecedented winter storm, it makes sense to streamline our permitting process without incurring additional costs to property owners,” Mayor Kurt Otten said. “I am hopeful impacted properties can be restored quickly.”
The Clear Lake Shores Building Department will continue to issue permits and provide inspections to ensure proper repair documentation and best construction practices. “A permit is still required, even if you have already completed all repairs,” Building Official Kevin Harrell said. “You should document the repair with color photographs submitted with the permit.” Residents and business owners can download the plumbing permit application by visiting www.clearlakeshores-tx.gov/buildingpermits
Additionally, all contractors utilized should be registered with the City before doing any work. This ensures that the contractor has been vetted with the required insurance and state licensure.
