Memorial Day: A Message from Mayor Kurt

Dear CLS Residents, Employees and Business Owners,

Memorial Day weekend is a time of remembrance and reflection for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the United States.  Please join me in taking a moment to remember all the Americans who have given their lives to protect our security, freedom, and way of life.

This weekend, while you are enjoying your rest from work, a day at the beach, or a BBQ with your family; please take a minute to remember and honor every soldier, sailor, marine or other service member, who gave their life in service to our nation.  Let’s also remember and thank the families, friends and loved ones that these soldiers left behind.

There is no way we can repay the debt these heroes paid for us, but we can show our appreciation.

The City of Clear Lake Shores would like to invite all our residents to join us in celebrating Memorial Day on Monday, May 31, at 8:15 p.m. at Sundial (Lowell Brown) Park. Jack Sonora, with the Dickinson VFW Post 6378, will perform “Taps”  to honor the men and women who sacrificed their lives to protect the nation's liberty and freedom.

Please join us as we remember and honor our heroes. A collection for Dickinson VFW Post 6378 will be available during the ceremony.

I wish you and your family a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.

Mayor Kurt
