Fireworks Safety

Let all the failures of your past year be your best guide in the New Year! (1)

Clear Lake Shores, TX - December 30, 2019 - We would like to remind residents that fireworks are illegal in the City of Clear Lake Shores.

Fireworks are often used to mark special events and holidays. However, they are not safe in the hands of consumers.

People can enjoy fireworks safely if they follow a few simple safety tips:

  • Be safe. If you want to see fireworks, go to a public show put on by experts. There will be a fireworks show at the Kemah Boardwalk on December 31st at 10:00pm.
  • Do not use consumer fireworks.
  • Keep a close eye on children at events where fireworks are used.

Don’t forget about your furry friends!

  • Keep your pets secured inside your home. Even dogs in fenced yards find ways to escape the scary sound.
  • Give them a safe place to hide. Set up a comfortable room or crate in your house just for them.
  • Use ambient noise to mask the noise.  A radio or TV playing comforting music works well.
  • Update their IDs and microchips.
  • Keep them busy. Treat toys can help distract them during the display.
