[ARCHIVED] Update on Cleanup Efforts After the Recent Storm

An update from the Mayor:

Despite the challenges we have faced due to the recent storm. I am writing to provide you with an update on the ongoing cleanup efforts in our community.

I am pleased to inform you that Ameriwaste will be picking up regular trash along with recycling starting tomorrow. In addition, our public works department will commence clean-up activities, including further damage assessment as previously mentioned in our updates.

To facilitate the disposal of storm debris, we have arranged for the delivery of two dumpsters. One will be stationed at Jarboe and the other at Shell Bottom Park. I kindly remind everyone that these dumpsters are designated for storm debris only.

Furthermore, we are collaborating with a neighboring city to secure a chipper truck to assist with the removal of tree branches across the island. Please place smaller tree debris (5” or less in diameter) by the roadside until the equipment arrives. Additionally, kindly cut larger pieces of tree debris into smaller sections for easier handling. Tomorrow, we will provide a timeline for the deployment of these resources.

As mentioned in previous communications, Center Pointe has alerted us that due to the extensive damage in Houston and the surrounding areas, it may take up to a week for assistance to reach us. In the meantime, please exercise caution when operating portable generators.
